Announcing the ALL NEW JMI 30/2

New for August 2008 is the JMI AC 30/2, a stripped down version of the classic AC 30 amplifier aimed at studios. This has all the same great tone of the AC30 but at a much lower price. This is achieved by omitting the tremolo circuit whilst including a selectable master volume.

JMI 30-2 Specification.

The JMI 30-2 is a new 30W single-channel guitar amplifier. It is a development of our 30-6 model, designed to fill the needs of players who do not require the 30-6’s complex Vib-Trem facility. In addition, there are a few useful features not found on the 30-6, namely, a three-position ‘Channel’ switch and a post-PI master volume.

THIS AMP ROCKS !!!!

It has been possible to make approximately 6dB more gain available than the standard six-input model, due to the fact that there is no ‘lossy’ mixer circuit in this single-channel design.

Pre-Amp Controls and Inputs:

1. Inputs – 2, (High and Low).

2. Volume I. The same channel volume control as found on other JMI amplifiers.

3. ‘Channel’ switch. Re-creates the sounds of various classic JMI input channels:

1/ NORMAL - The sound of the 30-6’s ‘Normal’ channel. This is the setting to use with external treble-boosters, etc, or plug straight in for a darker-voiced sound.

2/ BRILLIANT B - Voiced like a vintage JMI ‘Brilliant’ channel (bass version), just a little more full-bodied than position 3, a great sound for lead or chord playing.

3/ BRILLIANT - Voiced like a vintage JMI ‘Brilliant’ channel (normal version). The most commonly used channel for a bright sparkling sound that cuts through in a band context.

4. Volume II. A post Phase-Inverter master volume control. Far superior to the ordinary master volume control found on most guitar=2 0amplifiers. Allows the Phase Inverter valve to be overdriven as it would be in a cranked-up non-MV amplifier, but at much lower output volumes. Effectively disappears from the circuit when turned fully clockwise.

5. Tone control – Similar to the tone control of the 30-6 model (and most vintage JMI’s). It’s actually a low-pass filter that works ‘backwards’ i.e. turn it clockwise to cut high frequencies.

Valve Compliment

Pre Amplifier – 2x ECC83 (Input gain and Phase Inverter)

Power Amplifier – 4x EL84 (Cathode Biased)

Power Supply – 1x GZ34 (Rectifier)

Note: The JMI 30-2 uses the same hand-wired point-to-point construction as the other models in the JMI range.
